Chattanooga, Tennessee was the chosen spot where Volkswagen designed and built the world's newest, advanced and most environmental auto assembly plant. Production will start this year for the 2012 Volkswagen Passat.

The all-new Passat offers three drivetrain options:
The first is a very responsive 2.5L gasoline engine with 170 hp and 177 lb.-ft. of torque. It comes standard with a 5-speed manual transmission, but can be also equipped optional with the Volkswagen 6-speed automatic transmission.
Second, Volkswagen is offering a remarkably eco-friendly and quiet 2.0L TDI Clean Diesel. The 4-cylinder engine houses 140 hp with a torque of 236 lb.-ft. - which makes it feel like a 6-cylinder engine and the consumption of a hybrid model. Expected Miles per Gallon: 43 gal. on the highway - Reach: Approx. 800 miles!!! Optional is a 6-speed DSG transmission.

Third: A 390 horsepower VR6 engine catapulting the 3.6 liter, 258 lb.-ft. of torque Passat into the sports car segment. Combined with its sporty ambitions it offers power and luxury to its driver. Fuel consumption is being estimated around 28 mpg on the highway. The gear shifting is handled by VW's standard 6-speed DSG.

Premium Features

The Passat will be soon offered at our Avondale VW new car and used Volkswagen dealership in three trim levels, S, SE and SEL, with a total of 16 equipment levels. Standard features are automatic climate control and Bluetooth connectivity.

• Safety: Volkswagen's advanced Intelligent Crash Response Systems, initiating shut off of the fuel supply and electronic equipment; unlocking the doors; disconnecting the battery terminal from the alternator cable; and switching on the hazard lights; tire pressure monitor system; electronic stabilization program; six airbags; Hill Climb Assist (on manual only); and has reinforced steel, making the body extremely rigid to protect drivers and passengers.

• Convenience: Automatic climate control, power windows all around, insulating glass, cruise control, outside temperature display with frost warning, Audio-CD system (MP3-capable, plus external audio input) and Bluetooth connectivity.

• Premium options: Decide on 17- and 18-inch alloy wheels, memory driver seat with power seat adjustment, leather, leather-trimmed multifunction steering wheel, a touchscreen satellite audio with it RNS 510 or RNS 315 navigation units, fog lights with static cornering lights, ambiance lighting, memory driver's seat, and keyless access with push button start.       

For passionate music fans, the Passat will also offer Fender's new premium audio system.

A key identifying feature fo the new Passat: It's new horizontal brand face, with the grille and headlights forming a single unit. A clean design, and a "look of much more expensive", than it actually is allows the Passat to appear timeless, unique and dominant.
